Itinerol

A histamine H1 antagonist used in the treatment of motion sickness, vertigo, and nausea during pregnancy and radiation sickness. [PubChem]

Itinerol is an antihistamine and anticholinergic. It works by blocking a chemical messenger in the brain, which helps to reduce or prevent vomiting.

Itinerol is used to treat or prevent nausea, vomiting, and dizziness caused by motion sickness. It is also used for vertigo (or dizziness) caused by certain inner ear problems.

Itinerol is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body.

Usual Adult Dose for Nausea/Vomiting:

25 to 50 mg orally once a day as needed.

Usual Adult Dose for Vertigo:

25 mg orally 1 to 4 times a day or 50 mg orally twice a day.

Usual Adult Dose for Motion Sickness:

25 to 50 mg orally once a day as needed. Itinerol should be administered one hour prior to travel and continued for the duration of exposure.

Do not exceed 50 mg in 24 hours.

Usual Pediatric Dose for Nausea/Vomiting:

> 12 years: 25 to 50 mg orally once a day as needed.

Usual Pediatric Dose for Vertigo:

> 12 years: 25 mg orally 1 to 4 times a day or 50 mg orally twice a day.

You should not take this medication if you are allergic to Itinerol.

Before taking Itinerol, tell your doctor if you have asthma or other breathing disorder, glaucoma, an enlarged prostate, or problems with urination.

Use Itinerol chewable tablets as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

• Take Itinerol chewable tablets by mouth with or without food.
• Itinerol chewable tablets may be chewed or swallowed whole.
• For prevention of motion sickness, take Itinerol chewable tablets at least 1 hour before activity or travel.
• Use Itinerol chewable tablets exactly as directed on the package, unless instructed differently by your doctor. Follow any warnings and precautions on the label.
• If you miss a dose of Itinerol chewable tablets and you are using it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

How to use Itinerol

Minor Side Effects

Some of the side effects that can occur with Itinerol may not need medical attention. As your body adjusts to the medicine during treatment these side effects may go away. Your health care professional may also be able to tell you about ways to reduce or prevent some of these side effects.
