This is a chronic condition where an individual's internal circadian clock is not synchronized to light and dark cues, leading to a constant shift in the timing of sleep onset and wakefulness. This can result in significant difficulties maintaining a consistent schedule and may lead to daytime exhaustion or nighttime insomnia.
