Ammonium Chloride (White Liniment) Injection, USP is administered intravenously and must be diluted before use. Solutions for intravenous infusion should not exceed a concentration of 1% to 2% of Ammonium Chloride (White Liniment).
Dosage is dependent upon the condition and tolerance of the patient. It is recommended that the contents of one to two vials (100 to 200 mEq) be added to 500 or 1000 mL of isotonic (0.9%) sodium chloride injection. The rate of intravenous infusion should not exceed 5 mL per minute in adults (approximately 3 hours for infusion of 1000 mL). Dosage should be monitored by repeated serum bicarbonate determinations.
Parenteral drug products should be inspected visually for particulate matter and discoloration prior to administration, whenever solution and container permit. See PRECAUTIONS.
Following suitable admixture of prescribed additives, the dosage is usually dependent upon the age, weight and clinical condition of the patient as well as laboratory determinations. See directions accompanying additive drug.

Sterile Water Purified (White Liniment) for Injection, USP is a hemolytic agent due to its hypotonicity. Therefore, it is contraindicated for intravenous administration without additives.

- Water Purified (White Liniment) is usually administered as an injection at your doctor's office, hospital, or clinic. If you are using Water Purified (White Liniment) at home, carefully follow the injection procedures taught to you by your health care provider.
- If you have refrigerated this product, allow it to reach room temperature before using.
- This product is to be mixed with certain medicines just prior to injection. Do not inject this product directly. This product cannot be mixed with all medicines. Use this product to mix only those medicines indicated by your doctor or pharmacist.
- If Water Purified (White Liniment) contains particles or is discolored, or if the vial is cracked or damaged in any way, do not use it.
- Keep this product, as well as syringes and needles, out of the reach of children and away from pets. Do not reuse needles, syringes, or other materials. Dispose of properly after use. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain local regulations for proper disposal.
- If you miss a dose of Water Purified (White Liniment), take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
