Lecithin (Silymax) has been used in alternative medicine as an aid to treat high cholesterol, certain liver problems, gallbladder disease, or certain problems in people with mania. Lecithin (Silymax) has also been used to prevent certain complications in in people who are unable to eat and are receiving nutrition through an IV (total parenteral nutrition, or TPN).

Dietary supplementation
Adult: 3-9 g daily in divided doses.
Severe cases 140 mg tid for 4-6 wk. In all other cases 70 mg tid for 4-6 wk.
