Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose.
Dextromethorphan (Pseudoephedrine (Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid)/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid) is a cough suppressant. It affects the signals in the brain that trigger cough reflex.
Pseudoephedrine (Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid) is a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels in the nasal passages. Dilated blood vessels can cause nasal congestion (stuffy nose).
Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid is a combination medicine used to treat cough, runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, itching, and watery eyes caused by allergies, the common cold, or the flu.
This medicine will not treat a cough that is caused by smoking, asthma, or emphysema.

- Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
- Do not drink alcohol while you are using Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid.
- Check with your doctor before you use medicines that may cause drowsiness (eg, sleep aids, muscle relaxers) while you are taking Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid; it may add to their effects. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines may cause drowsiness.
- Do not take diet or appetite control medicines while you are taking Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid without checking with your doctor.
- Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid has a decongestant, antihistamine, or cough suppressant in it. Before you start any new medicine, check the label to see if it has a decongestant, antihistamine, or cough suppressant in it too. If it does or if you are not sure, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
- Do not use Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid for a cough with a lot of mucus. Do not use it for a long-term cough (eg, caused by asthma, emphysema, or smoking). However, you may use it for these conditions if your doctor tells you to.
- Do NOT take more than the recommended dose or use for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor.
- If new symptoms occur, or if cough or nasal congestion persists for more than 1 week, gets worse or returns, or occurs along with a fever, rash, or persistent headache, check with your doctor. A persistent cough may be a sign of a serious condition.
- Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid may cause you to become sunburned more easily. Avoid the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how you react to Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid. Use a sunscreen or wear protective clothing if you must be outside for more than a short time.
- Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid may interfere with skin allergy tests. If you are scheduled for a skin test, talk to your doctor. You may need to stop taking Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid for a few days before the tests.
- Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.
- Use Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid with caution in the ELDERLY; they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially confusion, drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, nervousness, sleeplessness, and trouble urinating.
- Caution is advised when using Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid in CHILDREN; they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially excitability.
- Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid should not be used in CHILDREN younger than 6 years old without first checking with the child's doctor; safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant while taking Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid while you are pregnant. It is not known if Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid.
Usual Adult Dose for Cough and Nasal Congestion:
Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid 0.667 mg-10 mg-20 mg/5 mL oral liquid:
15 mL orally every 6 hours not to exceed 60 mL daily.
Usual Pediatric Dose for Cough and Nasal Congestion:
Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid 0.667 mg-10 mg-20 mg/5 mL oral liquid:
6 to 11 years: 7.5 mL orally every 6 hours not to exceed 30 mL daily
12 years or older: 15 mL orally every 6 hours not to exceed 60 mL daily.
Use Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid may be taken with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
- Use a measuring device marked for medicine dosing. Ask your pharmacist for help if you are unsure of how to measure your dose.
- If you miss a dose of Pseudoephedrine/Dexbrompheniramine/Dextromethorphan Liquid and you are taking it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using this medicine and call your doctor at once if you have:

confusion, severe anxiety, hallucinations, tremors;

weak or shallow breathing;

a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;
-
fast or pounding heartbeats;
-
painful or difficult urination, little or no urinating;
-
pale skin, weakness, easy bruising or bleeding, fever, chills, body aches; or
-
increased blood pressure--severe headache, buzzing in your ears, chest pain, shortness of breath, uneven heartbeats.
Common side effects may include:

dizziness, drowsiness, headache;
-
constipation, upset stomach, loss of appetite;
-
blurred vision, double vision, dry eyes;
-
sleep problems (insomnia); or
-
dry mouth, nose, or throat.
Side effects such as dry mouth, constipation, and confusion may be more likely in older adults.
