What is the most important information I should know about Phensic?
Aspirin (Phensic) should not be given to a child or teenager who has a fever, especially if the child also has flu symptoms or chicken pox. Aspirin (Phensic) can cause a serious and sometimes fatal condition called Reye’s syndrome in children. You should not use this medication if you are allergic to acetaminophen (Tylenol), Aspirin (Phensic), or Caffeine (Phensic), or if you have:
a recent history of stomach or intestinal bleeding;
liver disease;
asthma or severe allergic reaction caused by taking Aspirin (Phensic) or an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug), especially "Aspirin (Phensic) triad syndrome"; or
if you are allergic to an NSAID such as Advil, Motrin, Aleve, Orudis, Indocin, Lodine, Voltaren, Toradol, Mobic, Relafen, Feldene, and others.
Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safe for you to take acetaminophen, Aspirin (Phensic), and Caffeine (Phensic) if you have:
asthma or seasonal allergies;
fever with a stiff neck;
a stomach ulcer, heartburn, or stomach pain;
a bleeding or blood clotting disorder such as hemophilia;
diabetes; or
gout.
If you take acetaminophen, Aspirin (Phensic), and Caffeine (Phensic) to treat headache pain, seek medical attention if you have:
a headache so bad you have to lie down;
a headache that causes vomiting;
what feels like the worst headache you’ve ever had;
a headache that seems different from your usual headaches;
a headache every day;
a headache after coughing, bending, exercising, or head injury;
if you have never had migraines diagnosed by a doctor; or
if you are having your first headache after age 50.
Use Phensic as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Take Phensic by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation. Taking it with food may not decrease the risk of stomach or bowel problems (eg, bleeding, ulcers) that may occur while taking Phensic.
- Take Phensic with a full glass of water (8 oz/240 mL). Do not lie down for 30 minutes after taking Phensic.
- Use Phensic exactly as directed on the package, unless instructed differently by your doctor. If you are taking Phensic without a prescription, follow any warnings and precautions on the label.
- If you miss a dose of Phensic and you are taking it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Phensic.
There are specific as well as general uses of a drug or medicine. A medicine can be used to prevent a disease, treat a disease over a period or cure a disease. It can also be used to treat the particular symptom of the disease. The drug use depends on the form the patient takes it. It may be more useful in injection form or sometimes in tablet form. The drug can be used for a single troubling symptom or a life-threatening condition. While some medications can be stopped after few days, some drugs need to be continued for prolonged period to get the benefit from it.How to use Phensic

What other drugs will affect Phensic?
If you are already taking any other medicines, including herbal medicines and those bought without a prescription, you should check with your pharmacist before taking this medicine, to ensure that the combination is safe.
You should not take other medicines that contain paracetamol in combination with this medicine, as this can easily result in exceeding the maximum recommended daily dose of paracetamol. Many cold and flu remedies and over-the-counter painkillers contain paracetamol, so be sure to check the ingredients of any other medicines before taking them with this one.
This medicine should not be used by people who are currently taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor antidepressant, eg phenelzine, tranylcypromine, isocarboxazid or moclobemide, or who have taken one of these medicines in the last 14 days. This is because the combination of phenylephrine and an MAOI could cause a dangerous increase in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis).
If phenylephrine is taken with any of the following medicines, the combination may cause an increase in blood pressure. If you are already taking any of these medicines you should avoid taking this one as well:
beta-blockers, eg propranolol
other decongestants (often found in other non-prescription cough and cold remedies)
tricyclic antidepressants, eg amitriptyline
appetite suppressants
amphetamine-like stimulants.
Phenylephrine can reduce the effects of medicines to treat high blood pressure (antihypertensives). If you are taking medicines for high blood pressure you should not take this medicine.
Cholestyramine reduces the absorption of paracetamol from the gut. It should not be taken within an hour of taking paracetamol or the effect of the paracetamol will be reduced.
Metoclopramide and domperidone may increase the absorption of paracetamol from the gut.
Long-term or regular use of paracetamol may increase the anti-blood-clotting effect of warfarin and other anticoagulant medicines, leading to an increased risk of bleeding. This effect does not occur with occasional pain-killing doses.
