Gastrolyte is an Electrolyte combination (Gastrolyte). It works by replacing electrolytes (eg, sodium, potassium) that may be lost due to vomiting or diarrhea.

Use Gastrolyte as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Take Gastrolyte by mouth with food.
- Do not heat Gastrolyte.
- Briskly stir 1 packet of Gastrolyte into 4½ cups (1 L) of water until completely dissolved. For a single serving, briskly stir 2 teaspoons of Gastrolyte into 7 ounces (200 mL) of water until completely dissolved.
- Drink enough of Gastrolyte to replace the fluid you are losing through diarrhea. Check with your doctor if you are unsure how much of Gastrolyte you should use. Continue to use Gastrolyte until diarrhea stops.
- Refrigerate any unused solution for up to 24 hours.
- If you miss a dose of Gastrolyte, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
