What is Gastrazole?
Gastrazole is a pharmacological agent primarily developed for the management of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders. It belongs to a class of medications known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). These compounds work by targeting the gastric parietal cells in the stomach lining to reduce the production of digestive acid.
Mechanism of Action
The active component in Gastrazole inhibits the enzyme system known as H^+/K^+-ATPase, commonly referred to as the gastric acid pump. By blocking the final stage of acid secretion, the medication helps to decrease the overall acidity within the stomach environment. This reduction in acid allows the esophageal and gastric mucosa to recover from irritation or ulceration.
