Overview of Falic
What is Falic?
Falic is a pharmacological treatment developed to address erectile dysfunction in men. It belongs to a class of medications known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. The primary function of the medication is to assist in achieving and maintaining a penile erection sufficient for sexual activity by modifying the blood flow response to sexual stimulation.
Mechanism of Action
The active component in Falic works by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme. Under normal conditions of sexual arousal, the body releases nitric oxide, which stimulates the production of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). This substance relaxes the smooth muscles in the blood vessels of the penis, allowing for increased blood inflow.
In many cases of erectile dysfunction, the PDE5 enzyme breaks down cGMP too quickly, preventing an erection from occurring or being sustained. Falic intervenes by slowing the degradation of cGMP, thereby supporting the natural physiological process required for an erection. It is important to note that the medication does not cause an erection spontaneously; sexual stimulation is still required for the treatment to be effective.
Clinical Purpose
The medication is utilized to treat the physical symptoms of impotence. By improving the vascular response to arousal, it helps men manage the physiological limitations that may be caused by various health factors, including age-related changes, circulatory issues, or other underlying medical conditions that affect blood flow. While Falic addresses the physical aspects of erectile dysfunction, it does not treat underlying psychological causes or increase sexual desire.
