Therapeutic indications

An indication is a term used for the list of condition or symptom or illness for which the medicine is prescribed or used by the patient. For example, Acetaminophen (Decolgen Non Drowse) or paracetamol is used for fever by the patient, or the doctor prescribes it for a headache or body pains. Acetaminophen (Decolgen Non Drowse) is a pain reliever and a fever reducer.

Phenylephrine is a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels in the nasal passages. Dilated blood vessels can cause nasal congestion (stuffy nose).

Acetaminophen (Decolgen Non Drowse) and phenylephrine is a combination medicine used to treat headache, fever, body aches, stuffy nose, and sinus congestion caused by allergies, the common cold, or the flu.

Acetaminophen (Decolgen Non Drowse) and phenylephrine may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Dosage (Posology) and method of administration

Adult & childn >12 yr 1 caplet tds. Childn 6-12 yr ½ caplet tds.

Contraindications

Cardiac disease, high BP, thyroid disease, persistent high fever.

Special warnings and precautions for use

There are specific as well as general uses of a drug or medicine. A medicine can be used to prevent a disease, treat a disease over a period or cure a disease. The drug can be used for a single troubling symptom or a life-threatening condition. Use Decolgen Non Drowse as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

Take Decolgen Non Drowse by mouth with or without food.
Use the dropper that comes with Decolgen Non Drowse to measure your dose. Ask your pharmacist for help if you are unsure of how to measure your dose.
If you miss a dose of Decolgen Non Drowse, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction

Taking MAO inhibitors with this medication may cause a serious (possibly fatal) drug interaction. Avoid taking MAO inhibitors (isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine) during treatment with this medication. Most MAO inhibitors should also not be taken for two weeks before treatment with this medication. Ask your doctor when to start or stop taking this medication.

The ingredients in this product are available in many prescription and nonprescription products. Check the labels on all your medicines (such as pain/fever drugs, diet aids, or cold/allergy products) because they may contain the same or similar ingredients. Using these drugs along with this product could increase side effects (such as fast heartbeat or increased blood pressure). Ask your pharmacist about using those products safely.

This medication may interfere with certain laboratory tests (including urine 5-HIAA), possibly causing false test results. Make sure laboratory personnel and all your doctors know you use this drug.

Undesirable effects

Upset stomach, nausea, dizziness, trouble sleeping, or nervousness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Tell your doctor right away if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: mental/mood changes (such as confusion, hallucinations), fast/irregular heartbeat, problems urinating.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
