Carboptic Drops ophthalmic reduces the pressure in the eye by increasing the amount of fluid that drains from the eye. Carboptic Drops ophthalmic also causes the pupil to become smaller and reduces its response to light or dark conditions.
Carboptic Drops ophthalmic is used to treat glaucoma by lowering the pressure inside the eye.
Carboptic Drops ophthalmic may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

What is the most important information I should know about Carboptic Drops?
You should not use Carboptic Drops if you are allergic to it, or if you have swelling of your iris (the colored part of your eye).
Before using this medication, tell your doctor if you have had a recent eye injury, heart failure or recent heart attack, high or low blood pressure, asthma, a stomach ulcer, an overactive thyroid, urination problems, Parkinson's disease, if you have had a retinal tear, if you are nearsighted, or if you have had cataract surgery.
Do not allow the tip of the dropper to touch any surface, including your eyes or hands. If the dropper becomes contaminated it could cause an infection in your eye, which can lead to vision loss or serious damage to the eye.
This medication may cause blurred vision and may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be alert and able to see clearly.
Do not use this medication while wearing contact lenses. Carboptic Drops ophthalmic may contain a preservative that can discolor soft contact lenses. Wait at least 15 minutes after using Carboptic Drops before putting in your contact lenses.
Call your doctor at once if you have vision problems, seeing "floaters" in your vision, or severe burning, stinging, or if you have eye irritation after using the eye drops.
Use Isopto Carboptic Drops drops as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Isopto Carboptic Drops drops is for topical use in the eye only. It is not for injection.
- To use Isopto Carboptic Drops drops, first, wash your hands. Tilt your head back. Using your index finger, pull the lower eyelid away from the eye to form a pouch. Drop the medicine into the pouch and gently close your eyes. Immediately use your finger to apply pressure to the inside corner of the eye for 1 to 2 minutes. Do not blink. Remove excess medicine around your eye with a clean tissue, being careful not to touch your eye. Wash your hands to remove any medicine that may be on them. To prevent germs from contaminating your medicine, do not touch the applicator tip to any surface, including your eye. Keep the container tightly closed.
- Continue to use Isopto Carboptic Drops drops even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.
- If you miss a dose of Isopto Carboptic Drops drops, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.

Before using this medication, tell your doctor if you are using another eye medication, especially if it is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) such as flurbiprofen (Ocufen), suprofen (Profenal), diclofenac (Voltaren), or ketorolac (Acular).
Do not use other eye medications during treatment with Carboptic Drops ophthalmic except under the direction of your doctor.
Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Carboptic Drops ophthalmic. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines, including vitamins, minerals, and herbal products.

In addition to its needed effects, some unwanted effects may be caused by Carboptic Drops ophthalmic (the active ingredient contained in Carboptic Drops). In the event that any of these side effects do occur, they may require medical attention.

If any of the following side effects occur while taking Carboptic Drops ophthalmic, check with your doctor or nurse as soon as possible:

- Veil or curtain appearing across part of vision
- Diarrhea, stomach cramps or pain, or vomiting
- fainting
- flushing or redness of face
- frequent urge to urinate
- increased sweating
- irregular heartbeat
- shortness of breath, wheezing, or tightness in chest
- unusual tiredness or weakness
- watering of mouth
Minor Side Effects
Some of the side effects that can occur with Carboptic Drops ophthalmic may not need medical attention. As your body adjusts to the medicine during treatment these side effects may go away. Your health care professional may also be able to tell you about ways to reduce or prevent some of these side effects. If any of the following side effects continue, are bothersome or if you have any questions about them, check with your health care professional:

- eye pain
- stinging or burning of the eye
- Headache
- irritation or redness of eyes
- twitching of eyelids
An antifungal antibiotic. Carboptic Drops may be given by mouth in the treatment of tinea infections.
