Treatment of elevated IOP in adult patients w/ open-angle glaucoma or ocular HTN for whom monotherapy provides insufficient IOP reduction.
Adult & elderly Instill 1 drop in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) bid. If >1 ophth agent is being used, administer 5 min apart.
Hypersensitivity to brinzolamide or timolol maleate & to other β-blockers & sulphonamides. History or w/ bronchial asthma, severe COPD. Sinus bradycardia, 2nd/3rd-degree AV block, overt cardiac failure, or cardiogenic shock. Severe allergic rhinitis & bronchial hyperreactivity. Hyperchloraemic acidosis. Severe renal impairment.
Oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors; ketoconazole, itraconazole, clotrimazole, ritonavir, troleandomycin. Potential additive effect w/ oral Ca channel blockers, guanethidine or β-blockers, antiarrhythmics, digitalis glycosides or parasympathomimetics. β-blockers can potentiate hypertensive reaction to sudden w/drawal of clonidine. Potentiate systemic β-blockade w/ quinidine & cimetidine. May increase hypoglycaemic effect of antidiabetics.
Dysgeusia, blurred vision, eye pain & irritation, foreign body sensation in eyes.
