Top 20 medicines with the same components:
Levocetirizine
treatment of symptoms of year-round (persistent) and seasonal (intermittent) allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis, such as itching, sneezing, nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, lacrimation, conjunctival hyperemia,
pollinosis (hay fever).
urticaria,
other allergic dermatoses, accompanied by itching and rashes.
Inside, during a meal or on an empty stomach. Tablets covered with a film shell, swallow whole, washed down with a small amount of water. To take the drug in the form of drops, use a teaspoon. If necessary, the dose of the drug can be diluted in a small amount of water immediately before use.
Adults and children over 6 years old: the daily dose is 5 mg (1 table. or 20 drops) once.
Children from 2 to 6 years old: 1.25 mg (5 drops) 2 times a day, the daily dose is 2.5 mg (10 drops).
Since levocetirizine is excreted from the body by the kidneys, when using the drug in patients with renal insufficiency and elderly patients, the dose should be adjusted depending on the amount of creatinine clearance. Creatinine clearance for men can be calculated based on the concentration of serum creatinine, using the following formula:
Cl creatinine clearance, ml/min
Creatinine clearance for women can be calculated by multiplying the obtained value by a factor of 0.85.
Elderly patients with normal renal function do not need to reduce the dose, in patients with chronic renal failure, the dose calculation should be carried out taking into account the creatinine clearance according to the table below.
Kidney failure | Cl creatinine clearance, ml/min | Dose and frequency of administration |
Missing (norm) | ≥80 | 5 mg/day |
Easy | 50–79 | 5 mg/day |
Average | 30–49 | 5 mg 1 time in 2 days |
Heavy | <30 | 5 mg 1 time in 3 days |
End-stage-patients undergoing hemodialysis | <10 | taking the drug is contraindicated |
In patients with renal and hepatic insufficiency, the dosage is carried out according to the table above.
Patients with impaired liver function alone do not need to adjust the dosage regimen.
Duration of drug administration: in the treatment of seasonal (intermittent) rhinitis (the presence of symptoms less than 4 days a week or their total duration less than 4 weeks), the duration of treatment depends on the nature of the disease, treatment can be discontinued when symptoms disappear and resumed when symptoms appear. In the treatment of year-round (persistent) allergic rhinitis (the presence of symptoms more than 4 days a week and their total duration is more than 4 weeks), treatment is possible during the entire period of exposure to allergens. There is clinical experience of continuous use of 1-AL tablets® in adult patients with a duration of up to 6 months.
For all dosage forms
hypersensitivity to levocetirizine or piperazine derivatives, as well as other components of the drug,
end-stage renal failure (Creatinine Cl <10 ml / min),
pregnancy,
the period of breastfeeding.
With caution: chronic renal failure (correction of the dosage regimen is necessary), old age (possible decrease in glomerular filtration), spinal cord injury, prostatic hyperplasia, as well as the presence of other predisposing factors to urinary retention, since levocetirizine can increase the risk of urinary retention, concomitant use with alcohol (see "Interaction").
For film-coated tablets, optional:
lactase deficiency, lactose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption,
children under 6 years of age (due to limited safety and efficacy data).
For oral drops optional:
children under 2 years of age (due to limited data on the effectiveness and safety of the drug).
Use Arcet TAB solution as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Take Arcet TAB solution by mouth with or without food. Take it in the evening unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
- Use a measuring device marked for medicine dosing. Ask your pharmacist for help if you are unsure of how to measure your dose.
- If you miss a dose of Arcet TAB solution, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Arcet TAB solution.
There are specific as well as general uses of a drug or medicine. A medicine can be used to prevent a disease, treat a disease over a period or cure a disease. It can also be used to treat the particular symptom of the disease. The drug use depends on the form the patient takes it. It may be more useful in injection form or sometimes in tablet form. The drug can be used for a single troubling symptom or a life-threatening condition. While some medications can be stopped after few days, some drugs need to be continued for prolonged period to get the benefit from it.Arcet TAB is used to treat symptoms of allergic conditions such as allergic fever (hay fever), year-round allergies like dust or pet allergies and chronic nettle rash.

What other drugs will affect Arcet TAB?
Drug interaction studies have been performed with racemic cetirizine.
Antipyrine, Azithromycin, Cimetidine, Erythromycin, Ketoconazole, Theophylline and Pseudoephedrine: Pharmacokinetic interaction studies performed with racemic cetirizine demonstrated that cetirizine did not interact with antipyrine, pseudoephedrine, erythromycin, azithromycin, ketoconazole and cimetidine. There was a small decrease (approximately 16%) in the clearance of cetirizine caused by theophylline 400 mg dose. It is possible that higher theophylline doses could have a greater effect.
Interactions with Other Medicaments:
No interaction studies have been performed with Arcet TAB (including no studies with CYP3A4 inducers); studies with the racemate compound, cetirizine demonstrated that there were no clinically relevant adverse interactions (with pseudoephedrine, cimetidine, ketoconazole, erythromycin, azithromycin, glipizide and diazepam). A small decrease in the clearance of cetirizine (16%) was observed in a multiple-dose study with theophylline (400 mg once a day); while the disposition of theophylline was not altered by concomitant cetirizine administration. The extent of absorption of Arcet TAB is not reduced with food, although the rate of absorption is decreased.
In sensitive patients the simultaneous administration of cetirizine or Arcet TAB and alcohol or other CNS depressants, may have effects on the central nervous system, although it has been shown that the racemate cetirizine does not potentiate the effect of alcohol.
During the clinical studies in men and women aged 12-71 years, the following adverse events often occurred (≥1/100, <1/10): headache, drowsiness, dry mouth, fatigue, infrequently (≥1/1000, <1/100) asthenia and abdominal pain occurred. Children from 6 to 12 years old often had headaches and drowsiness. During the period of post-registration use of the drug, the following side effects were observed, the frequency of which is unknown due to insufficient data.
On the part of the immune system: hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis.
From the side of metabolism and eating disorders: increased appetite.
From the side of the psyche: anxiety, aggression, agitation, insomnia, hallucinations, depression, suicidal thoughts.
From the nervous system: convulsions, thrombosis of the sinuses of the dura mater, paresthesia, dizziness, fainting, tremor, dysgeusia.
From the hearing side: vertigo.
On the part of the visual organ: visual impairment, blurred visual perception, inflammatory manifestations.

If any of the side effects listed in the instructions worsen or the patient notices other side effects, you should inform your doctor.
Symptoms: drowsiness (in adults), agitation and anxiety, followed by drowsiness (in children).
Treatment: gastric lavage or the appointment of activated charcoal, if little time has passed after taking the drug. Symptomatic and supportive therapy is recommended. There is no specific antidote. Hemodialysis is ineffective.
