Overview of Дифлюзол
What is Дифлюзол?
Дифлюзол is a systemic antifungal medication used for the treatment and prevention of various fungal infections. It belongs to a class of drugs known as triazole derivatives. The active ingredient in this medication is fluconazole, which is recognized for its broad spectrum of activity against many types of fungal pathogens.
Mechanism of Action
The medication works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes. By disrupting the production of this lipid, the drug increases the permeability of the fungal cell wall, leading to the leakage of essential cellular components and the eventual cessation of fungal growth and replication.
Therapeutic Applications
Дифлюзол is primarily used to address infections caused by yeasts and fungi, particularly those from the Candida and Cryptococcus families. Common applications include:
- Mucosal Candidiasis: Infections affecting the lining of the mouth, throat, and esophagus.
- Genital Candidiasis: Specifically used for vaginal yeast infections and inflammation of the glans penis (balanitis).
- Systemic Fungal Infections: Serious infections involving the bloodstream, respiratory tract, or urinary tract.
- Cryptococcal Meningitis: Fungal infections that affect the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord.
- Preventative Use: It may also be used in patients with weakened immune systems to reduce the risk of developing fungal infections during medical treatments.
