Concomitant topical medication, medicated or abrasive soaps and cleansers, soaps and cosmetics that have a strong drying effect, and products with high concentrations of alcohol, astringents, spices or lime should be used with caution because of possible interaction with Tretinoin (Hiteen). Particular caution should be exercised in using preparations containing sulfur, resorcinol, or salicylic acid with Tretinoin (Hiteen). It also is advisable to "rest" a patient’s skin until the effects of such preparations subside before use of Tretinoin (Hiteen) is begun.
When used, dryness or increased sensitivity of the affected skin may occur. More sensitive patients may also experience redness, scaling, itching, and burning. A gradual increase in the frequency and amount of Tretinoin (Hiteen) application is best, as this allows one’s skin to adequately adjust to the drug. Patients should be careful to follow their physician’s recommendations when beginning a round of treatment.
