Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid is an analgesic, antihistamine, cough suppressant, decongestant, and expectorant combination. The analgesic works in the brain to decrease pain and reduce fever. The antihistamine works by blocking the action of histamine, which helps reduce symptoms such as watery eyes, runny nose, and sneezing. The cough suppressant works in the brain to reduce a dry or unproductive cough. The decongestant works by constricting blood vessels and reducing swelling in the nasal passages, which helps relieve nasal congestion and pain associated with sinus pressure. The expectorant works by loosening mucus and thinning lung secretions in the chest, making coughs more productive.
- Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
- Do not drink alcohol while you are taking Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid.
- Check with your doctor before you use medicines that may cause drowsiness (eg, sleep aids, muscle relaxers) while you are using Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid; it may add to their effects. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines may cause drowsiness.
- Do not take diet or appetite control medicines while you use Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
- Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid has Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid, Dextromethorphan (Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid), Doxylamine (Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid), and Phenylephrine (Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid) in it. Before you start any new medicine, check the label to see if it has Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid, Dextromethorphan (Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid), an antihistamine, or a decongestant in it too. If it does or if you are not sure, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
- Do not use Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid for a cough with a lot of mucus. Do not use it for a long-term cough (eg, caused by asthma, emphysema, smoking). However, you may use it for these conditions if your doctor tells you to.
- Do NOT take more than the recommended dose or take for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor.
- If your symptoms do not get better within 7 days, if they get worse, or if they occur along with a persistent fever, check with your doctor.
- Contact your doctor if you have a sore throat that is severe, lasts more than 2 days, or occurs with fever, rash, headache, nausea, or vomiting.
- Contact your doctor if you have a fever that lasts for more than 3 days.
- Contact your doctor if you have a cough that lasts more than 7 days, goes away and then comes back, or occurs along with persistent fever, rash, or headache.
- Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid may cause you to become sunburned more easily. Avoid the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how you react to Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid. Use a sunscreen or wear protective clothing if you must be outside for more than a short time.
- Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid may harm your liver. Your risk may be greater if you drink alcohol while you are using Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid. Talk to your doctor before you take Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid or other fever reducers if you drink more than 3 drinks with alcohol per day.
- Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid may interfere with skin allergy tests. If you are scheduled for a skin test, talk to your doctor. You may need to stop taking Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid for a few days before the tests.
- If you have trouble sleeping, ask your doctor or pharmacist about the best time of the day to take Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid.
- Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.
- A very bad skin reaction (Stevens-Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis) may happen. It can cause very bad health problems that may not go away and sometimes death. Get medical help right away if you have signs like red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin (with or without fever); red or irritated eyes; or sores in your mouth, throat, nose, or eyes.
- Use Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid with caution in the ELDERLY; they may be more sensitive to its effects.
- Caution is advised when using Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid in CHILDREN; they may be more sensitive to its effects, especially excitability.
- Different brands of Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid may have different dosing instructions for CHILDREN. Follow the dosing instructions on the package labeling. If your doctor has given you instructions, follow those. If you are unsure of the dose to give a child, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. - Take Dayquil/ NyQuil Severe Cold and Flu liquid liquid by mouth with or without food.

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); chest pain; dark urine; difficulty urinating or inability to urinate; fast or irregular heartbeat; hallucinations; mental or mood changes; pale stools; seizures; severe nervousness, drowsiness, or trouble sleeping; severe or persistent dizziness, light-headedness, or headache; severe or persistent stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting; tremor; unusual fatigue; vision changes; yellowing of the skin or eyes.
